The 21 year-old got his International career off to a terrific start after he managed to pick his maiden wicket off his very first ball in International cricket.
Theekshana has represented Sri Lanka in 15 T20Is, picking up 14 wickets with best figures of 3/17 and an impressive economy of 6.41. Theekshana has also represented Sri Lanka in 4 ODIs, picking up 6 wickets including a four-wicket haul on debut against South Africa.
Overall, Theekshana has picked up 51 wickets in 48 T20s at an economy of 6.04 and best figures of 4/25.
Theekshana has represented Sri Lanka at the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, where he picked up eight wickets in seven games with best figures of 3/17 at an impressive economy of 5.48.

Post the auction, Chennai Super Kings CEO KS Viswanathan told CSK TV that the management had been scouting Theekshana since the Sri Lankan Premier League in 2021.

“Theekshana was identified as a mystery spinner during the Sri Lankan Premier League and subsequently during the T10 tournament. We tried to get him as a net bowler last season but unfortunately there was some tournament in Sri Lanka because of which he could not come. But, we had identified the talent and that identification is the most important thing,” the CEO said.
